Fentanyl and its many forms are a powerful type of synthetic opioid that is about 100 times more powerful than morphine and about 50 times more powerful than heroin. Fentanyl can be consumed unknowingly in a number of drugs, including cocaine and heroin. Unknowingly consuming fentanyl can lead to a drug overdose or drug-related fatality. There is no way of knowing if any kind of drug not received from a pharmacy has fentanyl, unless it is tested.
